Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has offered automatic employment to Mr. Mkpouto-abasi Ime Umossoh, a First-Class graduate in Nautical Science from the Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET), Kanathur, Chennai, India.

The governor’s decision followed an appeal made by Umossoh during Eno’s inspection visit to ARISE Park, located along Brook Street in Uyo.

Umossoh, who hails from Essien Udim Local Government Area, informed the governor that despite his academic achievements, he needed a sustainable means of livelihood to support his aging parents.

Umossoh, in addition to his First-Class degree, holds a National Diploma from the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron.

He is qualified to work as a third officer onboard a ship, making him a valuable asset to the state’s maritime initiatives.

Moved by Umossoh’s plight and his dedication, Governor Eno immediately directed the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, to collaborate with the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Orman Esin.

The governor instructed the ministry to explore opportunities for Umossoh within the state’s passenger cruise ship project, after conducting the necessary due diligence, to be overseen by the Commissioner for Internal Security, General Koko Essien.

Governor Eno expressed his satisfaction with the progress at ARISE Park, praising the ingenuity behind transforming a once life-threatening gully erosion site into what is expected to become a significant wealth-generating tourism hub.

He noted that the development of the site is not only a triumph of engineering but also a potential catalyst for economic growth in the state.

The governor’s offer to Umossoh aligns with his broader vision for youth empowerment and the promotion of education as a means to uplift the lives of citizens in Akwa Ibom.
