Again PDP Lawmaker Defects to APC

By Oladele Taiwo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost another key member to the All Progressives Congress (APC), deepening the party’s internal crisis.

Amos Gwamna Magaji, representing Java/Zango Kataf Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, defected to the APC due to unresolved issues within the PDP.

Magaji, a two-term lawmaker, chairs the House Committee on Health Care Services and leads the Kaduna caucus in the House of Representatives.

His defection has sparked controversy, with Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda objecting to the move and calling for Magaji’s seat to be declared vacant.

Chinda cited Section 68(1g) of the Constitution, arguing that lawmakers must comply with legal provisions when switching parties.

He claimed Magaji failed to meet the required conditions and should forfeit his seat.

This development comes after another PDP member, Johnson Agbonayinma from Edo State, defected to the APC .

The PDP’s internal crisis continues to worsen, with multiple defections in recent times.
