The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that corps members will begin receiving a newly reviewed federal allowance of ₦77,000 monthly, starting from March 2025.
This news was confirmed by the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, while addressing corps members in the Federal Capital Territory.
The increased allowance is a significant improvement from the previous amount, and corps members are eagerly anticipating the pay boost.
The delay in implementing the new allowance was attributed to the late signing of the 2025 appropriation bill.
However, with the Ministry of Finance confirming that funds are ready for disbursement, corps members can expect to receive their new allowance this month.
During his address, Brigadier General Nafiu expressed appreciation for the corps members’ dedication to fostering national unity, integration, and development.
He also encouraged them to utilize available communication channels to provide feedback and suggestions for improving the NYSC scheme .
This development is a positive step for corps members, who have been awaiting the pay increase.
With the new allowance, they can better support themselves during their service year.
