Adeleke Invites Entries as Opposition Criticizes Osun’s New Logo

Osun state Governor, Ademola Adeleke has announced a logo design competition to take place from April 19th to 26th.

In July 2023, the Osun State House of Assembly revoked the state Anthem, Crest, and Flag Law 2012, replacing it with a new law empowering the executive to create a new logo for the state.

Despite signing a bill adopting a new logo for the state, Adeleke’s design, released via social media, faced criticism.

Addressing the criticism, Adeleke stated, “As a responsive leader, I have decided to open the logo change to more public input through this week-long competition.”

Earlier, the Allied Peoples Movement, an opposition party in the state, criticized the new logo as a waste of public funds.

Similarly, the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s state chapter expressed dissatisfaction, questioning if the governor had seen the design before approving it.

The party’s chairman, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi, stated, “The new logo is an embarrassment to Osun. With talented youth in the state, how could the government unveil such a poorly designed logo?”

The spokesperson for the governor, Olawale Rasheed, announced the logo crafting competition to be held from April 19th to 26th.

Design submissions should adhere to the prototype logo in terms of content and style. Entries can be submitted in person or online, with the best design set to be announced on April 28 and unveiled during the new edition of Ipade Imole on April 30th.

“Entries can also be submitted online via emailus@osunstate.gov.ng or statelogo@osunstate.gov, with bio-data and contact details of the designer. The subject should be with the subject “OSUN STATE LOGO”.
