Abure’s leadership not legitimate, says Kenneth Okonkwo

Nigerian actor and lawyer, Kenneth Okonkwo, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will select the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate in 2027 if Julius Abure remains as National Chairman.

Okonkwo, who served as LP’s presidential campaign spokesperson in the 2023 elections, stated on Arise Television’s “Prime Time” programme that Abure’s leadership lacks legitimacy since he was not elected by party members.

“Abure admitted he wasn’t elected… If he remains chairman, that ends it for me and the Labour Party,” Okonkwo said.

He described Abure’s leadership approach as “transactional politics” and claimed the LP has become a “housemaid” to the APC.
