Abia Police Command Arrests Killer of Emma Okocha

The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reported the arrest of the police officer responsible for the tragic death of Mr. Emmanuel Okocha, a resident of Aba who was killed by the police for refusing to give bribe to the police. 

The officer, identified as Corporal Obaji Njoku from the Abayi Police Division, allegedly shot Mr. Okocha on the busy Aba-Owerri road in Osisioma Local Government Area. 

According to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Maureen Chinaka on behalf of Commissioner of Police (CP) Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, the apprehended officer is undergoing disciplinary procedures. 

CP Onwuemelie emphasized that the command is committed to ensuring that the officer faces both administrative and legal consequences for his actions.”The Abia State Command is deeply saddened by the incident involving the loss of Mr. Emmanuel Okocha’s life due to a police officer’s actions. Corporal Obaji Njoku has been detained, and we are taking necessary steps to address this issue.” 

“We assure the family, friends, and the public that appropriate actions will be taken, and they will be kept informed throughout this process.”We extend our sincere condolences to the bereaved family and everyone affected by this unfortunate event.”It’s important to maintain accuracy and sensitivity when reporting such incidents.” he said. 

Recall that National Telescope Newspaper had reported the sad incident on Friday that a motorist in Aba, Abia State, identified as Emmanuel Okocha was gunned down in broad daylight by the police for refusing to part with money when he was stopped during a routine check by a police officer who asked for his vehicle particulars. After the officer checked his vehicle particulars and found them to be correct, the officer was said to have insisted on taking money from him and shot Emmanuel when he refused and made to walk back to his vehicle.
