The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

AbdulRazaq Reflects on ENDSARS, Calls for Continued Harmony

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has called on residents of the state to uphold peace and refrain from actions that could disrupt stability or harm lives and businesses.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye in Ilorin on Friday, Governor AbdulRazaq commended Kwarans for their peaceful disposition and wisdom.

“I am confident that the people of Kwara, young and old, understand that life’s challenges should not be tackled through actions that may cause further damage or have negative consequences for themselves, their families, our state, and our country,” the Governor said.

Reflecting on the ENDSARS protests, Governor AbdulRazaq remarked, “Kwarans learn from history.

“Together, we faced the horror of the ENDSARS protests, during which some individuals looted properties, businesses, and attacked innocent citizens.

“We had to use scarce resources to support many affected businesses to prevent further job losses. The scars of ENDSARS still remain with many families today.”

The Governor acknowledged the desire for quicker economic relief and assured that the government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is addressing these concerns through various measures.

“However, the worst we can do at this time is to take actions that may worsen things, especially for businesses or public infrastructure designed to serve us all.”

Addressing young people, social media influencers, and opinion leaders, Governor AbdulRazaq appealed for their support in promoting national growth, peace, harmony, and socioeconomic development.

“Let us avoid actions that may lead to collective regret, loss of lives, or destruction of our common heritage. Protests, however well-intentioned, can trigger destructive actions. Let us not succumb to temptations that could lead our state or country toward instability,” he admonished.

Governor AbdulRazaq also praised various stakeholders, including community associations, for their efforts in promoting peace and stability.

“Our challenges will not disappear when we turn against one another. They are better discussed and steadily resolved in an atmosphere of peace and stability,” he concluded.
