Abducted Journalists Regain Freedom Six Days After

Two journalists, Abdulgafar Alabelewe of The Nation Newspaper and AbdulRaheem Aodu of Blueprint Newspaper, who were kidnapped by bandits a week ago, have regained their freedom.

The journalists were abducted from their homes in Danhonu community, Millennium City, Chikun Local Government Area, on Saturday, July 7th.

Abdulgafar Alabelewe was released along with his wife and two children, who were kidnapped with him by the bandits.

In a statement, the Kaduna Council Chairman, Asma’u Yawo Halilu, expressed gratitude for the release of the journalists and their families. “To the glory of God Almighty, our colleagues, Abdulgafar Alabelewe, AbdulRaheem Aodu, and their families have been released,” she said.

The Council thanked various authorities and individuals for their support during the crisis, including the Kaduna State Police Command, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Inspector General of Police, the Kaduna State Government, the President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, and all Nigerians who prayed for their safe return.

“We will soon announce when they will join us in Kaduna so that we can visit, rejoice, and glorify God with them,” Halilu added.
