Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of ondo state has promised that his administration would continue to add value to the status of all traditional rulers in the state rather than dethroning them or shutting their palaces.
Akeredolu stated this while addressing some traditional rulers in Owo.
It will be recalled that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state recently ordered that the palaces of the Akinrun of Ikirun, Aree of Iree and Owa of Igbajo, should remain unoccupied while security agencies should takeover with immediate effect.
This followed controversies and crises that characterised the enthronement of the affected traditional rulers in the state.
Governor Adeleke noted in Executive Order 5, that appointments into the three and other traditional ruler positions, made after July 17, 2022 have been put on hold pending review.
Addressing the traditional rulers in Owo, Governor Akeredolu prayed for them that they shall always enjoy more comfort in their various palaces.
Not satisfied with the level of Amen from the traditional rulers, Akeredolu jokingly said, “The prayer that palace will not be uncomfortable for you is a big prayer and I hope you understand why I prayed so.
“I pray that you shall all have peace in your various palaces.”
Akeredolu further said, “Go and ask them in Osun, you will understand why I am praying. Traditional rulers in Osun know that the temperature of their palaces could suddenly get hot against them.
“But I am assuring you that my government will not shut any palace in Ondo state. Just be enjoying yourself.
“My government would rather add to your values as traditional rulers.
“Keep enjoying your life. You have no problem. Just keep having your fun.”
