Peter Obi frustrated out of PDP, says Bwala

Yinka Oyeniji | Abuja

The Spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Daniel Bwala, on Friday said the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi was frustrated out of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He said Obi left after he when the zoning of the presidential ticket to south-east failed.

He said. “The idea that frustrated Peter Obi out was because there was never going to be an opportunity for the south-east.

“If there was he would have stayed, no matter what because he believes in his popularity. When it was infact opened, Atiku decided to participate because if you leave it open that means everybody has the right to participate.

He however condemned the continuous insistence of the Rivers State Governor, Nysome Wike that the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu should resign.

He stressed that the basis for the call for Ayu’s resignation is not tenable.

“if we are going to ponder to what we hear everyday even from the party there is this wide believe that he (Wike) wants to run in 2027 for presidency and for him to succeed in that he has to put the chairman but that he will put will have to then undermine on the party’s progress because that will pave way for a new order for the 2023 election that he wants to run.

“He (Wike) influenced the emergence of leaders that sat in committees – whether committees for party positions or elective office. At his behest, a recommendation was made that it should be thrown open evidently because he is not from the southeast.

“That led to the departure of Peter Obi. If the zoning thing was followed, Peter Obi or probably the former SGF (Ayim Pius) would have emerged as the presidential candidate of the party. ”
