4,453 NYSC members pass out in Oyo

No fewer than 4,453 Batch B Stream 11 Corps members for 2022 passed out on Thursday in Oyo State after their one-year service to their host communities.

This year’s passing out parade was done in low- key ceremony devoid of the usual parade in 33 Local Government Offices.

The State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe monitored the passing out parade at the NYSC Offices in Ibadan North East and Lagelu Local Government Secretariat respectively.

While delivering her farewell speech, the Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe urged the corps members to be resourceful and make good use of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Department (SEAD) Programme adding that such empowerment creates the opportunity for financial independence and productivity.

Speaking further, she enjoined the Corps members to be involved only in legitimate businesses and should avoid cutting corners while also warning them against get rich quick syndrome.

She equally cautioned them against cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, armed robbery, and other social vices which according to her are mostly done by lazy people who don’t want to struggle to make it in life. “There are so many legitimate ways of making money”she said.

“The impact you made in the lives of individuals in your host communities have contributed immensely to the development of this State. Remember, Oyo State is a Pacesetter State, therefore, you must always live by pace setting. Don’t ever find yourself at the rear.”

A Corps member Owoeye Kayode Emmanuel OY/21B/ 6797 was presented a letter of Commendation for distinguishing himself in the course of the service year by the State Coordinator.

Various projects were executed by the Corps member, such as Skills Empowerment and book donations to eight Secondary Schools in Awe, Afijio Local Government.

A total of 4,453 corps members comprising 1874 males and 2579 females were discharged from the mandatory service year in Oyo State.
