NYSC rewards six members as 5,510 pass out in Oyo

No fewer than 5,510 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Corps members of the National Youth Service Corps in Oyo State were on Thursday discharged after their one-year service.

Six of the corps members were honored by the NYSC for their outstanding performance during the service year.

While Komolafe Peace with number OY/21B/0210 bagged the ‘State Honour Award’, Ofinni Bamidele ‘OY/21B/1182’; Akinola Temitope ‘OY/21B/1699’; Alabi Oluwakemi ‘OY/21B/1250’; Akpoyibo Aghoeho ‘OY/21B/0891’; and Ofunbowo Emmanuel ‘OY/21B/0515’ received ‘Commendation and Recognition of State Award’

NYSC Director-General, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Kaku Fadah, in his farewell address commended the Corps members for their service to the nation.

The DG who was represented by the Oyo State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Ogbuogebe encouraged the corps members to improve on their skills acquired under the  Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Department (SAED) project, adding that such empowerment creates the opportunity for financial independence and productivity.

“The one-year mandatory service to the fatherland and the impacts you made in the lives of individuals in your host communities have contributed immensely to the development of the society”

“Remember the hope of our great nation is hinged on you, keep the flame burning”.

The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde who was represented by the Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Hon. Seun Fakorede, commended the Corps members for their “high level of self-discipline, patriotism, hard work and the spirit of selflessness they exhibited throughout the period of their service to various communities to which they were deployed”.

“Your contributions in such areas as primary health care delivery, education, construction are indeed a lease of life to our people, the rural populace”

“Gone were the days of expecting  automatic job  after service, urging them  to apply creativity in their endeavours, especially “due to the unemployment bedeviling the nation”.
