Alleged OAU Student Suicide: My sister was murdered – Brother …To release Post mortem result today

Timothy Damilola, brother of Mercy Olamide Afolaranmi, the 16-years old 100-level student of Microbiology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife, has raised alarm accusing a room mate for the death of his sister.

Damilola who took to his facebook extensively explained the reasons behind his allegations.

According to him, the room mate had earlier held the mobile phone of Afolaranmi on Wednesday, refusing anyone to speak with her, stating that she was sleep before the death was announced on Thursday.

“She has a room mate and they had issues this semester. They stopped cooking together which is an indication of the indifferences between them.
She was the one who hold her phone all through Wednesday, why?. She wouldn’t allow anyone speak to her all through the day, saying she is busy resting, why.”

Damilola stated that the decease wouldn’t have killed herself having prepared ahead of her Seminar presentation which was to come up.
He also said her room would have not been scattered with vomits littering all corners of the room. Added that she would have also endured the pain and give up the ghost on a point if she had prepared the death for herself.

Meanwhile, Damilola has disclose that a post mortem has been carried out on the corpse with the result expected to come out today (Monday).
According to Premium Times report, Miss Afolaranmi took ‘Sniper’ days after she wrote on Facebook that she wanted to see God’s face and speak with him face to face.

Obafemi Awolowo University’s Chief Security Officer, Babatunde Oyatokun, said, “We got a call that one of our students took poison. We got to hospital to realise that she mixed rat poison. She gave us the contact of her parents but before they arrived, she already gave up due to the effect of the poison she took.”
Her fellow students and a neighbour also revealed that Mercy killed herself due to poor grade.

A neighbour, Bimpe Oni, said the student, who lived off-campus at Sabo area of Ile-Ife, died on Thursday, after she took “rat poison mixed with battery extract.”

Oni said the late student committed suicide because of “emotional pressure.”
Aisha, Miss Afolaranmi’s colleague in the Faculty of Science, said the deceased had ‘E’ in CHM101 (Chemistry for first year students), a reportedly dreaded course for year one students in the science and technology related faculties.

She disclosed, “Mercy often isolated herself in class and looked depressed. She told me she had ‘E’ in CHM101 and has been going around unhappy before this incident.”

Meanwhile some of her facebook friends pointed out that the incident could have been staged.
Chibuisi Operator Chelsea said “I don’t still believe that she did it purposely, somebody might have pressured her into it”

Also She drank Ogbobame who reference a picture illustration found on the deceased facebook wall said “this girl did not kill herself”
But for Rhoda James “Suicide or not, a destiny has been cut short”
