PHOTOS: Buhari, Fayemi, Makinde, others pay tribute to Nigerian fallen Heroes

A combination of photos taken on January 15, 2022, captures some of the highlights of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day commemoration in Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun and Kwara.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday led a wreath-laying event to commemorate the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

During the event held at the National Arcade in Abuja, the President also reviewed a presidential parade.

He was joined by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Others include the Chief Justice of the Federation, Justice Tanko Muhammad; the service chiefs led by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, and some members of the President’s cabinet.

In the same vein, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu led senior government officials in honour of fallen heroes, celebrating their sacrifices.

In a post on his social media handle, the governor maintained that the event will encourage the “Armed Forces and show them that
we will continue to remember them and ensure their efforts are”

Similarly, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun attended the Special Parade and Laying of Wreath Ceremony to mark 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan.

Also, the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde laid wreaths at the Remembrance Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan as part of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2022.

The governor assured that his administration “will keep working closely with our armed forces to provide a safe and secure environment for the good people of Oyo State.”

The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola also attended the occasion in Osogbo.

According to him, the occasion presents another “opportunity for us to celebrate all our gallant military men-fallen and living and reflect on their sacrifices. In the quest for sustaining our unity and collective sovereignty, our fallen heroes paid the supreme sacrifice to keep
us one, united and indivisible people.”

Similarly, the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu Aketi attended the
Final Parade and Laying of wreaths held at the Government Cenotaph, Alagbaka, Akure.

He however used the occasion to distribute loans to 52 Widows of departed Soldiers

He however assured of continuous partnership with the Armed Forces to ensure adequate Security in the State

In the same vein, the Kwara Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq assured partnering with the security agencies is an ongoing exercise.

He lauded the patriotic roles of the gallant officers in the Service in curtailing insurgency and other security threats.

In a post on his social media handle, the Governor”salute all of them, including those of them who had lost their lives in the course of serving the nation.”
