Nigerians have condemned the Lagos State Police Command for crushing 482 impounded motorcycles seized from riders who disobeyed the State traffic laws.

Recall that the Lagos State Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, in a statement signed by the Police spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said, “The exercise carried out publicly today was to convince members of the public especially the doubting Thomas that the impounded motorcycles are actually being crushed contrary to insinuations by mischief makers that the motorbikes are being sold and recycled.”

Reacting to the incident, some Nigerians who took to their Facebook account frowned at the exercise.

According to one of the social media users, Musa Adam, “Government is known for poverty eradication but this one creates way to it everyday.”
In the same vein, Uche Chukwu lamented the crushing of the imported motorbikes by the police when the country could not produce a pencil.

Salihu Yakubu said, “Though the exercise will serve as deterrent to others but the action is a bit harsh. The authority should have charged the offenders to court.”

Tonyblair Tony, said, “Wicked generation, they have released Yorubas own all those ones you guys are seeing here belongs to other tribes, nobody will speak for them. God will judge all of you.”

On his part, Mamah Okechukwu wrote, “Don’t be deceived by Nigeria newspaper or Facebook, Lagos state government has already settled those people, but if the motorcycle belongs to Igbo people eyyyy mmmm.”

Similarly, Olúwolé Arèmú Táyò said, “These so called Leaders are very wicked no matter
how these motorcyclists were disobedient, the action you took is obstinate & cruel. Lagos State Government, in what way have you empowered the Youths? After taking our votes, we’re now useless. Lagos State dwellers, open your eyes in year 2023.”
