The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old teacher, Musa Wada, for allegedly killing his 14-year-old Almajiri student, Bashir Adamu, and attempting to conceal the crime by mutilating the boy’s body.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Lawan Shiisu, confirmed the arrest, explaining that detectives acted on a tip-off and apprehended Wada in connection with the gruesome act.
According to police investigations, the suspect confessed that the victim died during a punishment for skipping school.
In an attempt to divert suspicion, he allegedly beheaded the boy and removed his genital organs to create the impression of a ritual killing.
“During interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, the suspect admitted that the deceased was his student but had been absent from school.
He claimed he was punishing the boy for his truancy when the child lost consciousness and died,” SP Shiisu stated.
Further police findings revealed that Wada buried the severed body parts on his farmland to cover up the incident.
The decomposing, headless corpse was discovered by the roadside in Jikas-Dabaja village, Gwaram Local Government Area, before it was later identified as that of Bashir Adamu.
The authorities have assured that the suspect will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.
