The Ogun State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, confirmed the arrest on Monday, stating that a concerned resident raised the alarm, prompting swift intervention by the authorities.
“Our rescue team responded to distress calls from Adamo, Ikorodu, a border community, where a school headmaster was reported to have physically assaulted (sodomised) a young female pupil. The suspect is now in police custody, while the victim and her mother are receiving the necessary support,” Adeleye said.
She assured that the child was undergoing medical and psychological care while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to protecting children and ensuring perpetrators face justice.
“The administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun maintains a zero-tolerance stance on gender-based violence, child abuse, and domestic violence. We call on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected cases,” she emphasized.
In a separate incident, Adeleye also revealed that a four-year-old boy, allegedly brutalized by his father in Igboko, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, had been rescued.
“The father has been taken into police custody, and legal processes are underway to ensure justice. The child is stable and responding well to treatment,” she stated.
She urged residents to support government efforts in curbing child abuse and gender-based violence, stressing that safeguarding the welfare of children remains a collective responsibility.
