A defamation lawsuit has been filed by gospel singer Mercy Chinwo against blogger Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, seeks N1 billion in damages over alleged defamatory statements made by VDM on social media.
According to court documents, VDM accused Chinwo of breaching her contract with her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu (EezeeTee), by accepting performance gigs independently without remitting payments to the record label.
Chinwo’s legal team has described these claims as false and damaging to her reputation.
The lawsuit demands that VDM delete the defamatory posts, retract his statements, and issue a public apology across his social media platforms and two national newspapers.
Chinwo is also seeking N100 million in punitive damages and N25 million to cover legal expenses.
This development is the latest in the ongoing legal battle between Chinwo and EezeeTee, with Chinwo accusing her former record label of fraud and financial exploitation.
VDM has publicly supported EezeeTee, releasing alleged evidence against Chinwo and questioning the fairness of the legal process.
The court’s decision in this case will have significant implications for the parties involved and the broader entertainment industry.
