Otu Unveils 100-Truck Security Task Force to Combat Insecurity in Cross River

Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has launched a joint security task force equipped with 100 trucks to tackle insecurity in the state.

The governor made the announcement during a ceremony held at the Governor’s Office in Calabar.

According to Otu, the security task force is part of his administration’s efforts to maintain the prevailing peace in the state and enhance its security architecture.

He warned criminal elements to either leave the state or face the law, stating that his government is committed to ensuring the safety of residents and investors.

The governor commended his special adviser on security and the service chiefs for their efforts in reducing insecurity in the state.

He noted that robbery and kidnapping, which were once prevalent, are now a thing of the past.

Otu emphasized that the provision of infrastructure to support security efforts and the construction of security bases are part of the first phase of initiatives aimed at enhancing safety in the state.

He reassured citizens that Cross River is now the safest state in the country and urged residents to collaborate with security forces by providing relevant information to help maintain peace.

The launch event was attended by service chiefs, members of the executive council, and representatives from the State House of Assembly, among other dignitaries.

The move is expected to further boost security in the state and provide a safer environment for residents and investors.
