Eight-Year-Old Kamsiyochukwu Anusi Emerges as Nigeria’s Second Youngest Author

Kamsiyochukwu Anusi, an eight-year-old pupil at Mary Pearl Ville Academy in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has made history by becoming Nigeria’s second youngest author with the publication of his book, ‘Adventures Round the Shining Egg’.

This achievement also earns him the distinction of being Africa’s third youngest author and one of the world’s listed number six youngest authors.

Kamsiyochukwu’s love for writing and storytelling has led to this incredible accomplishment.

Born in Imo State, he resides in Port Harcourt with his family, where he draws inspiration from his surroundings.

In an exclusive interview, Kamsiyochukwu shared his experiences, interests, and motivations, speaking fondly of his family and his daily routine, which includes attending school, doing homework, teaching his sister, and writing stories.

Kamsiyochukwu’s passion for writing is evident in his dedication to his craft.

He writes at home, often imagining and drawing inspiration from his surroundings.

His writing desk is the dining table, where he can focus without distractions.

He said he got inspiration from storybooks his parents bought for him, saying, “I read a lot of storybooks and one day I felt like I should write my own story. I tried it, and that was how the whole thing started.”

Kamsiyochukwu’s book, ‘Adventures Round the Shining Egg’, is a testament to his creativity and imagination, where he draws inspiration from reality, fantasy, miracles, and magic, often incorporating themes that promote positive values and morals.

The young author dedicated his book to his parents for supporting him throughout his writing journey and to God Almighty, who has inspired and guided him.

The Chairperson of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Rivers State Branch, Joy Esuku, expressed her excitement about Kamsiyochukwu’s achievement, stating that the Association plans to engage him in writing activities for children and teenagers.

The editor of the book and literary critic, Uduma Kalu, also praised Kamsiyochukwu’s raw talent, noting that his work is not just a one-off achievement but a historic milestone that deserves recognition and support.

The National Library of Nigeria, Port Harcourt, has also offered to provide space for the book launch and support Kamsiyochukwu’s work.

Kingsley Egbulonu, Deputy Director and Head of the National Library of Nigeria, Port Harcourt, expressed his admiration for Kamsiyochukwu’s talent, stating that the National Library will provide the necessary support to promote his work.
