Delta Speaker Dismisses Defection Rumors, Says PDP Lawmakers Are Loyal

DELTA: Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has debunked reports that ten lawmakers from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the claim as baseless.

Reacting to concerns raised during plenary by House Leader Hon. Emeka Nwaobi on Tuesday, Guwor urged PDP supporters in the state to disregard the speculation, which he said was aimed at creating unnecessary political tension.

“The rumour peddler is daydreaming,” Guwor said. “PDP in Delta State is strong and intact. Deltans are happy with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE agenda, which is positively transforming the state. There is no reason for such rumours.”

The Speaker maintained that all 22 PDP lawmakers in the House remain committed to the party, adding that those behind the reports were only seeking to cause distractions.

House Majority Leader, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, also refuted the claims, stating that PDP lawmakers remain “irrevocably committed” to the party. He alleged that the false report originated from an APC leader in the state and was a fabrication.

“On the contrary, five out of the seven APC lawmakers in the House have shown interest in joining the PDP,” Nwaobi disclosed. “Their defection plans are already being discussed.”

Guwor, however, extended an open invitation to opposition members willing to join the PDP, assuring them that the party remains accommodating.
