DELTA: Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in recognition of his contributions to education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development.
The induction, which took place at Government House, Asaba, was performed by the National President of NANS, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, who led members of the association’s executive on a courtesy visit to the governor.
Emonefe, a Deltan, commended Oborevwori for prioritizing the welfare of students and young people, noting that the administration’s investments in education and empowerment programs were having a tangible impact.
“Your achievements in education, infrastructure, and human capital development are visible to all. Delta State students have received bursaries twice within a year under your leadership, and your administration has continued to support youth inclusion in governance. This recognition is well-deserved,” Emonefe said.
He also praised the governor for upgrading facilities in state-owned tertiary institutions and renovating 150 health centers, which he said had improved access to healthcare for students and communities.
In his response, Governor Oborevwori thanked NANS for the honor and reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing affordable and quality education.
“We believe education is the foundation of a better society. That is why Delta is the only state with four public universities, and we are doing everything to support our students,” Oborevwori stated.
He assured that more students would benefit from the state’s bursary scheme and that his administration would continue to engage with young people to create more opportunities.
The governor also called on students and youth leaders to support the government’s policies and development initiatives, emphasizing that sustainable progress required collaboration between the government and the people.
