The Rivers State Police Command has taken steps to strengthen its partnership with the Nigerian Navy to improve security operations in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement made available to NATIONAL TELESCOPE by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, on Friday.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, along with his management team, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Commanding Officer of NNS Pathfinder, Commodore C.N. Aniaku.
The visit aimed at deepening cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Navy in tackling security challenges.
CP Adepoju expressed his appreciation to Commodore Aniaku and his team for their warm reception.
He noted that his visit was to formally introduce himself following his assumption of office as the new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and to foster closer collaboration between both security agencies, emphasizing that policing alone cannot effectively address all security threats.
In response, Commodore Aniaku welcomed the CP’s visit and commended the Nigeria Police Force for its vital role in maintaining law and order.
He assured that the partnership between the Navy and the Police would be further strengthened to enhance joint security efforts.
A key moment during the visit was the exchange of plaques between both leaders, symbolizing their commitment to deeper inter-agency cooperation.
