DELTA: The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, has strongly refuted allegations linking a company under his chairmanship to oil pipeline vandalism and illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta, describing the claims as baseless and malicious.

Speaking at a press conference in Warri, Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, the Sole Representative of the Olu of Warri to NNPCL/JV Partners, dismissed the allegations, stating they were an orchestrated attempt to damage the revered monarch’s reputation.

He called on all Itsekiri sons and daughters, well-meaning Nigerians, and allies of the Warri Kingdom to stand in solidarity with the king, assuring that the Itsekiri legacy remains one of honor, peace, and advancement.

“These allegations are nothing but deliberate falsehoods aimed at blackmailing a king who has dedicated his reign to peace, economic growth, and social development,” Edema said.

He emphasized that the Itsekiri Nation, known for its contributions to Nigeria’s economic stability, would not tolerate any smear campaign against its traditional ruler.

“His Majesty has always championed diplomacy, infrastructural development, and strategic partnerships in the oil and gas sector. It is unimaginable that a leader committed to progress would be involved in activities that threaten the region’s economic lifeline,” he added.

Edema further stressed the historical role of the Itsekiri people in national development, highlighting that their lands host key oil installations and refineries critical to Nigeria’s economy.

Calling for a thorough investigation, he urged security agencies and the federal government to expose those behind the allegations.

“We demand an immediate retraction of these unfounded claims. Those responsible for this smear campaign must be identified and held accountable because such misinformation can disrupt peace and discourage investors,” he warned.

He also urged the media to uphold ethical journalism by verifying facts before publishing allegations that could harm the integrity of respected leaders.

Reaffirming the unity of the Itsekiri people, Edema declared, “We will not be intimidated by lies. We stand firmly with our monarch, whose leadership continues to bring peace and progress to Warri Kingdom and the Niger Delta. Truth will always triumph over falsehood.”
