NGF Chairman Mourns Victims Involved in Niger Petrol Tanker Explosion

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, on Saturday visited the site of a devastating petrol tanker explosion in Niger State, describing the tragedy as “heartbreaking and sad.”

In a statement issued after the visit, the NGF Chairman expressed deep sorrow over the scale of the casualties and the severity of injuries sustained by survivors.

“The Forum is saddened by the petrol tanker explosion in Niger State, in which dozens of people have been killed or injured,” the statement read.

Governor Abdulrazaq extended the Forum’s condolences to Niger State Governor Umar Bago, families of the deceased, and those injured in the explosion.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones in the incident, and we wish those injured quick healing,” he said.

The NGF Chairman urged Nigerians to exercise caution and prioritize safety during emergencies such as petrol spills, emphasizing the need to prevent further loss of lives.

“The Forum prays for the repose of the souls of the dead victims,” he added.

The explosion, which occurred when a petrol tanker overturned, has left the affected community in mourning, with emergency responders working to assist the survivors and manage the aftermath.
