The wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has been kidnapped in the Arepo area of Ogun State. Mrs. Odumosu was reportedly abducted in the early hours of Friday by a group of heavily armed men who stormed her residence, firing shots sporadically.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, CSP Omolola Odutola, assured that the police had taken swift action to secure her release.
“Information was received regarding the kidnapping of Mrs. Odumosu, a female resident of Aminu Street, Arepo, Ogun State,” Odutola said.
She explained that the victim was attacked as she was about to enter her home. “Four masked men ambushed her, dragged her from her Lexus Jeep, and took her through swampy areas to an unknown location.”
Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) led a team of officers to the scene.
They have been combing the swampy bush areas in search of the victim. Local security forces in the nearby reverine communities, including Baale Warewa and Baale Maaba, have also been mobilized to assist in the rescue efforts.
CSP Odutola further revealed that the State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has been fully briefed and has activated covert operations, including digital intelligence support, to locate Mrs. Odumosu and bring her abductors to justice.
The police are intensifying their efforts to locate and rescue Mrs. Odumosu, while also working to apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
