A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered the remand of gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi, who was arrested with the severed head of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Salome Adaidu, in the state.
The remand order was issued in a brief statement posted on the X page of the Nasarawa State Police Command on Friday. The statement revealed that Ajayi was arraigned and will remain in prison custody pending his formal arraignment in court.
The statement read: “Timilehin Ajayi was charged to Court today and remanded in prison custody pending his formal arraignment.”
Ajayi, who is a well-known gospel singer, was apprehended by churchgoers after allegedly killing and dismembering Salome, who he claimed was his girlfriend. Ajayi reportedly stated that he killed Salome after discovering that she had been unfaithful to him.
However, the deceased’s family has denied the suspect’s claims, insisting that Salome was never in a relationship with him. They further alleged that Salome was abducted, contrary to reports that she had visited Ajayi prior to her death.
Meanwhile, members of the deceased family had claimed that their sister was never in a relationship with the suspect and that contrary to reports that Salome had visited the suspect, she was allegedly kidnapped.
