UNIBEN VC Salami Gets Senate Ovation for Excellent Performance

The Senate of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has applauded the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Lilian Salami, for her remarkable leadership and contributions to the institution.

The Director, Public Relations Officer, Benedicta Ehanire, in a statement on Thursday disclosed that the Senate eulogised the 10th Vice Chancellor during a special valedictory session held in her honour recently.

At the event, several professors took turns to commend Professor Salami for her unwavering commitment to excellence and for upholding the university’s standards and reputation.

She was lauded for her integrity, decisive leadership, and exceptional service in steering the institution through challenging times.

In her valedictory address, Professor Salami expressed her gratitude for the smooth and peaceful process of selecting her successor.

Reflecting on her career journey, she acknowledged God’s kindness in guiding her path and attributed her achievements to divine favor and the support of the university community.

The Professor of Human Nutrition and Hospitality extended heartfelt appreciation to the Senate and the wider university community for their support throughout her tenure.

She urged them to offer the same cooperation to her successor, whom she described as focused and visionary.

The Senate gave Professor Salami a standing ovation in recognition of her outstanding performance and legacy as Vice Chancellor.

The special meeting was attended by the incoming Vice Chancellor, Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, along with principal officers, professors emeriti, and other distinguished members of the university.
