Kano Police Parade 82 Suspects, Seize Arms, Hard Drugs

The Kano State Police Command has paraded 82 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including armed robbery, theft, and drug trafficking.

The parade took place on Thursday at the Command’s Bompai headquarters in Kano.

In a statement, Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna revealed that the suspects were arrested between November 1 and November 14, 2024. The arrested individuals include:

  • 13 armed robbery suspects
  • 13 suspected thieves
  • 35 suspected thugs
  • 12 suspected drug dealers
  • 5 suspected fraudsters
  • 2 motorcycle thieves
  • 2 kidnappers

Haruna also disclosed that a substantial cache of illegal items was recovered during the operation, including:

  • One AK-47 rifle
  • Three locally made guns
  • Hard drugs
  • 10 mobile phones
  • Other dangerous weapons

Police Commend Efforts, Pledge More Security

SP Haruna credited the success of the operation to the ongoing efforts of the Kano Police, which continue to implement a range of strategies aimed at reducing crime in the state. These strategies include community policing, intelligence-driven operations, and targeted clearance operations designed to dismantle criminal networks.

“The results we are seeing today demonstrate the success of our strategies in tackling crime,” Haruna stated. “We will continue to strengthen our approach, with a focus on security awareness and community engagement.”

He also thanked the Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his continued support to the police, which has helped enhance their operational capacity and improve security across the state.
