Osun Declares Three-Day Mourning for Late COAS Lagbaja

The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has declared a three-day period of mourning to honor the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja.
 
During this period, flags will be flown at half-mast across the state to pay respects to the distinguished soldier from Osun.
 
This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, on the state meta account on Thursday.
 
He also stated that condolence registers have been opened at the Government House and Governor’s Office, allowing citizens to offer their tributes and memories of the late General.
 
In his statement, Commissioner Alimi expressed the government’s deep sorrow over the loss, describing General Lagbaja’s passing as “a colossal loss to humanity and the nation.”
 
He added, “The death of the COAS is devastating. Osun State mourns the loss of one of its finest sons, a symbol of courage and patriotism. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Lagbaja family, the Olobu of Ilobu, and all those who cherished him.”
 
The mourning period began on Thursday, November 7, and will conclude on Saturday, November 9. The condolence registers are intended to serve as lasting memories for the late Chief of Army Staff, whose life and legacy left an indelible mark on the state and nation.
 
“We pray for God’s mercy upon the soul of General Taoreed Lagbaja and ask that he be granted Aljanna Firdaus,” Alimi concluded.
