The Kaduna State Government has offered financial and other support to 39 individuals released from detention following their involvement in #EndBadGovernance protests.
At a reunion ceremony held in Kaduna on Wednesday, each individual received N100,000 and a new smartphone as part of the state’s reintegration efforts.
Governor Uba Sani, represented by Secretary to the State Government Abdulkadir Meyere, assured the former detainees of additional empowerment opportunities, including skill development, start-up capital, and potential employment, provided they commit to responsible behavior.
He noted that those who have completed tertiary education would also be considered for further support.
The government has gathered the contact details of the released individuals for monitoring, to ensure compliance with responsible conduct before extending further benefits.
Meyere stated that all released protesters received medical exams and counseling to help them reintegrate into society. Both Islamic and Christian leaders also encouraged them to embrace peaceful and positive behavior.
State Commissioner for Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Rabi Salisu, urged the released individuals, including two minors, to serve as ambassadors of peace within their communities and to avoid future unlawful activities.
