Chief Simeon Abiodun Oyewumi Oyedokun, the Baale of Ajegunle community in Ifon-Osun, Orolu Local Government Area, Osun State, has passed away at the age of 90.
Chief Oyedokun, a respected leader and head of the Eleesi Chieftaincy dynasty, died on Wednesday, October 24.
In a statement by Rev. Layi Oye Oladimoye, spokesperson for the extended family, Chief Oyedokun was remembered for his dedicated service.
He was the former secretary of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, former Senior Registrar at Osogbo High Court, and previously served as Senior Executive Officer of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Osun State.
Chief Oyedokun leaves behind a large family, including his children Mrs. Bukola Faniran, Mrs. Olubunmi Alonge, Mrs. Olukemi Afolabi, and Mr. Francis Oyewale Oyedokun.
Among his extended family are Mr. Sunday Akande of the Central Bank, Alhaji Ajiboye Oyegbemi of the National Assembly, and Rev. Layi Oye Oladimoye, a veteran journalist and education administrator.
A wake-keep will be held in his honor on Thursday, November 7, followed by his funeral service at St. Joseph Catholic Cathedral in Ifon-Osun on Friday, November 8. Chief Oyedokun will then be laid to rest.
