Sanwo-Olu Mourns As Council Chairman Dies at 54

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Oladotun Olakanle, the Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area. Olakanle, affectionately known as Tant’olorun, passed away in the early hours of Saturday following a brief illness at the age of 54.

The cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.

In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu described Olakanle’s death as a significant loss not only to the Onigbongbo LCDA but also to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the entire state.

Sanwo-Olu extended his condolences to Olakanle’s friends and family, praying for eternal peace for his soul. He stated, “On behalf of my family, the people, and the Lagos State Government, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the residents of Onigbongbo LCDA. His death is a personal loss to me and a painful loss for both his council and Lagos State.”

The governor praised Olakanle as a dedicated public servant and a loyal party member, recognizing his deep understanding of local governance and the political landscape. He noted, “Hon. Olakanle was an invaluable asset to the APC and will be greatly missed by the entire political community, especially in Onigbongbo LCDA.”

Highlighting Olakanle’s commitment to the progress of his council, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged his impactful leadership over the past four years, noting that he had created a lasting legacy through his contributions to the growth and development of the Onigbongbo Local Council.
