Northern Elders React As “Malnourished” Minors Collapsed in Court

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has issued a strong statement calling for the release of minors detained on treason charges.

Abdulazeez Sulaiman, the forum’s spokesperson in a statement described the children in a recent video as frail and fearful, representing a profound societal failure.

Sulaiman emphasized that accusing children of treason, a serious charge typically reserved for adults, is deeply troubling and reflects a disturbing distortion of legal and moral principles.

He argued that children, inherently innocent and unable to grasp political complexities, should never be subjected to such grave accusations.

Their detention, particularly in a politically charged atmosphere, raises serious concerns about potential abuse and neglect, violating their fundamental human rights.

He highlighted the visible signs of malnutrition and ill health among the children as a troubling indicator of societal indifference.

Their suffering, he said, serves as a silent indictment of a system that prioritizes political agendas over the welfare of its most vulnerable citizens.

Sulaiman framed this situation as a symptom of a broader societal malaise, where the boundaries between justice and injustice are increasingly blurred.

He urged the international community to take action, calling for solidarity and a commitment to protect vulnerable individuals.

The NEF demands accountability from those responsible for this injustice, advocating for the immediate release of the minors, along with necessary medical care and support.

The forum also calls for stronger safeguards to protect children’s rights and to ensure transparency and accountability in legal proceedings.

The plight of these children, with their innocence compromised and futures uncertain, serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked power.

Sulaiman reiterated the urgent need for a compassionate justice system that upholds the rights of all, especially the most vulnerable, and challenged society to work towards a future where justice prevails over political expediency.
