Omowunmi Aloba, widow of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has agreed to undergo a DNA test to establish the paternity of their son, Liam. This development follows a lawsuit filed by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, seeking the DNA test.
The legal proceedings began when attempts to serve Omowunmi with the lawsuit were unsuccessful. The Ikorodu Magistrates Court, during a session on July 9, 2024, directed both parties to explore alternative dispute resolution, which ultimately did not lead to a resolution.
According to a statement from the family’s legal representative, Monisola Odumosu, both parties have since reached a settlement. They have agreed that the DNA test will be conducted at an accredited medical facility in Lagos or another mutually acceptable location.
Joseph Aloba has agreed to cover the costs associated with the DNA testing process. The court has also appointed officials to supervise the DNA test to ensure its reliability. Both parties will bear their own legal costs, except for the expenses related to the DNA test.
Mohbad, who died at 27, left behind a legacy of music and controversy, particularly surrounding the circumstances of his death, which has led to ongoing investigations and public scrutiny. Observers from various countries have raised concerns about the fairness of the proceedings related to his death, calling for transparency and accountability.
