The Nigeria Police Force has condemned social media personality Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, for wearing an official police uniform in a viral video.
In the video, Otse claims to be “CSP VeryDarkMan” and positions himself as Nigeria’s top online police officer, stating his intention to combat online oppression.
In response, police spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi announced an investigation to trace the source of the uniform and reiterated the Force’s disassociation from Otse’s actions.
The statement emphasised that the unauthorised use of police insignia is a criminal offense under Nigerian law, which undermines the integrity of the police.
The Force acknowledged the creativity of young Nigerians but warned against misusing police symbols, stressing that such actions will not be tolerated.
