The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has expressed deep sorrow over the helicopter crash that occurred offshore today, October 24, 2024.
Tragically, the pilot involved, Capt. Yakubu Dukas, was a highly experienced helicopter pilot with over 20 years of flying experience.
Until this unfortunate incident, he served as the Vice President of our esteemed union. This information was shared in a statement by NAAPE’s National President, Abednego Galadima.
It reads, “NAAPE has consistently emphasized the need for optimal operating conditions in the aviation industry to ensure the safety of all professionals, as there is no room for error in the skies.
“We urge the government and all stakeholders to prioritize safety in aviation operations and aim for zero accidents, given the devastating consequences of air crashes.
“Furthermore, we call on relevant agencies to thoroughly investigate both the immediate and underlying causes of this tragic incident. It is vital to implement measures that will prevent similar occurrences in the future.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were on board the helicopter during this tragic event.”
May there soul rest in peace, we only sympathize in Nigeria not getting to the root of the problem and no effort to prevent further occurrence except relief fund.
