In its avowed commitment to stabilize the Petroleum Products sector with desired quantity and quality in Akwa Ibom State, the Petroleum Products Monitoring Committee led by its Chairman, Hon Godwin Ekpo, yesterday, 17 October, paid a courtesy visit to the Commander, Joint Task Force-Operation DELTA SAFE, Rear Admiral J.U. Okeke in Yenagoa , Bayelsa State .
Speaking at the meeting which had about 11 component commanders in attendance, the Committee Chairman, Hon Godwin Ekpo lauded the Joint Task Force-Operation DELTA SAFE for their services to the public, saying their visit is a step towards building a robust relationship between them and the Akwa Ibom State government, and to seek their collaboration and cooperation in tackling petroleum products related issues and bringing normalcy to the sector in Akwa Ibom State.
In his remarks, the team lead, Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, General Koko Essien Rtd , appreciated the Joint Task Force for their efforts in combating crime and securing lives and properties in Akwa Ibom State, especially within the waterways.
General Essien, maintained that, irregularities in the petroleum sector and unnecessary withdrawal of service that increased hardship for Akwa Ibomites informed their decision to partner them for effective service delivery.
He appealed to the Joint Task Force to protect Akwa Ibomites doing business in the Petroleum Products sector.
Responding, the Commander of Joint Task Force-Operation DELTA SAFE, Rear Admiral J.U. Okeke, commended the committee for their commitment and timely visit to strategize on modalities to ensure normalcy return to the Petroleum Products sector in Akwa Ibom state, promised their availability and cooperation towards a peaceable, stable and quality delivery of Petroleum products in Akwa Ibom State.
Okeke, also reiterated JTF commitment to eliminate areas of conflict between the JTF and the marketers.
