Tinubu Pays Tribute to Late Iwuanyanwu as Burial Plan Begins

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has honored the memory of the late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, describing him as a courageous defender of justice and a relentless advocate against injustice.

His heartfelt tribute comes as preparations begin for the burial of the esteemed philanthropist and President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 81.

In his remarks, President Tinubu highlighted Chief Iwuanyanwu’s remarkable contributions across various fields, noting his legacy as a prominent figure in sports, business, politics, and philanthropy. “He was a colossus of many parts,” the President stated, commending Iwuanyanwu’s enduring impact in Nigeria.

Iwuanyanwu was the founder of the Iwuanyanwu Nationale Football Club, now known as Heartland F.C., which achieved significant success under his leadership. His business endeavors reflected his strong belief in Nigeria’s potential, as he invested across multiple sectors.

Throughout his distinguished career, Chief Iwuanyanwu held several key positions, including founding chairman of the Raw Materials and Research Development Council and chairman of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission. He also led the boards of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency and the Nigerian National Lottery.

The President praised Iwuanyanwu’s philanthropic efforts, which included scholarships for underprivileged students and the establishment of schools and hospitals. His commitment to service has left an indelible mark on the nation.

“I mourn the passing of this illustrious son of Nigeria,” President Tinubu said. “Though he lived to 81, his wisdom and stabilizing presence will be deeply missed. I extend my condolences to the Iwuanyanwu family, the Imo State government, and the Ndigbo community as burial rites commence.”

The President concluded by expressing hope that Chief Iwuanyanwu’s remarkable life and achievements will be remembered and that his soul may rest in peace.
