Two Killed, Others Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday around 8:05 PM at Ibafo village along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu expressway, claiming the lives of two individuals and injuring two others.

The crash involved a red Mercedes-Benz truck, which had no registration number, and a wine-colored Mitsubishi space wagon with registration number AAB 255AE.

According to Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Transport Compliance and Enforcement Agency, the Mitsubishi driver collided with the broken-down truck that was improperly left on the fast lane.

Akinbiyi confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene after the accident. The deceased victims have been taken to the morgue at Idera Hospital in Sagamu.

“The accident occurred at 2005 hours (8:05 PM) on Wednesday. Both the injured and deceased were occupants of the Mitsubishi space wagon,” Akinbiyi stated.

He further urged motorists to avoid night travel and excessive speed, emphasizing the dangers these practices pose.
