Take Me for My Son’s Freedom, Binance Executive’s Mother Pleads with FG

The mother of Tigran Gambaryan, Knarik Gambaryan, a Binance executive detained in Nigeria, has made an emotional plea to the Nigerian government, insisting that her son is innocent of all charges brought against him.

In a statement sent to PUNCH on Friday, Knarik maintained that her son, who serves as Binance’s Financial Crimes Compliance Chief, had no knowledge of the allegations linking him to money laundering and terrorist financing.

Pleading for his release, she stated, “He’s innocent, that’s all. But I’m asking, and I’m begging everyone who can help my son: please bring him home. That’s all we need.”

In a more emotional appeal, she offered to take her son’s place: “Take me; exchange me for my son; just let him go home! I don’t care what happens to me; just let my son go home.”

Tigran Gambaryan, a U.S. citizen, was arrested in February 2024 alongside another Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, when they arrived in Nigeria.

Their arrest followed an investigation allegedly connecting Binance to money laundering and terrorism financing activities.

While Gambaryan remains in detention in Nigeria, Anjarwalla fled to Kenya and has not yet been extradited.
