Edo Election: Tinubu Urges Peaceful and Fair Process 


As the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21 approaches, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on all candidates, political parties, and their supporters to ensure a peaceful and transparent process.
 
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu urged stakeholders to respect the democratic process and uphold the will of the people.
 
“President Tinubu emphasizes that democracy thrives on civility, tolerance, patience, and respect for the rules of the game,” Onanuga said.
 
The president, who recently won the presidential election, stressed the importance of maintaining peace and safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy during the Edo election.
 
He expressed confidence in the ability of Edo voters to make informed decisions at the polls.
 
“INEC has assured the nation of its commitment to conducting a free and fair election, and the President urges all stakeholders to collaborate towards a successful and peaceful process,” Onanuga added.
 
President Tinubu also commended the candidates and their parties for running issue-based campaigns, addressing concerns that directly impact the people of Edo State, such as improving livelihoods, boosting economic growth, and promoting national development.
 
This call to action from the President underscores the need for all stakeholders to respect the rule of law and the choice of the electorate.
 
As Nigeria gears up for the Edo governorship election, Tinubu’s message remains clear: peace and democracy must prevail.
