Ekiti Pays N100m Citizens Medical Bills

The Ekiti State Government has provided N100 million as financial assistance to 105 citizens to cover the cost of various medical treatments, reinforcing its commitment to affordable healthcare for its residents.

Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Friday during the cheque distribution ceremony, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Oyebanji Filani, stated, “This support is aimed at ensuring that beneficiaries can afford their medical bills and receive the necessary treatment.”

He explained that the financial assistance covers a wide range of medical conditions, including kidney and cancer treatments, appendectomies, cataract surgeries, and fibroid removals.

“The assistance is meant for those who are currently undergoing or are about to undergo treatment, whether within or outside the state,” Filani added.

The Commissioner expressed gratitude to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for approving the funds and always prioritizing the welfare of the people.

“We appreciate Governor Oyebanji for his unwavering support for the masses by approving this much-needed financial aid,” he noted.

Dr. Filani encouraged the beneficiaries to remain positive and follow their medical instructions carefully to achieve a quick recovery.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare services to all citizens.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Mrs. Olusola Gbenga-Igotun, emphasized the government’s understanding of the financial burden that ill health places on many residents.

“We are aware of the challenges that many citizens face due to medical bills, and that’s why this financial assistance was provided to ease their burden,” she explained.

She urged residents to prioritize their health by engaging in regular exercise and maintaining a balanced diet.

One of the beneficiaries, Chief Babatunde Ayowale, expressed his gratitude to Governor Oyebanji for his compassionate approach.

“I am deeply grateful to the governor for making our health and well-being a priority. This support will greatly assist us in receiving the necessary treatment,” he said.
