Anti-Party: Bauchi Gov Supporters Demand for Wike Sanction

Supporters of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, under the banner of Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAM-V), are demanding that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sanction the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his recent threats to destabilise certain PDP-controlled states.

The call for sanctions follows Wike’s remarks at the PDP congress in Port Harcourt, where he threatened to create a political crisis in any state where the governor challenges his political structure in Rivers State.

This statement came shortly after the PDP Governors’ Forum expressed support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and requested that the party’s leadership recognise him as the rightful leader of the PDP in Rivers.

In a statement signed by its Director-General, Mohammed Jibo, BAM-V urged the PDP leadership to take decisive action against Wike for what they described as “open anti-party activities.”

The group stated, “It becomes imperative in view of Wike’s several anti-party activities, including his openly working against the PDP in the 2023 presidential election, which contributed to the loss of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate.”

The group emphasized that Wike’s behavior, particularly his “reckless and indecorous” tirade against PDP governors, was unwarranted and damaging to the party’s unity.

“There is no doubt that Wike’s threat is nothing but reckless, especially coming from someone who has benefited immensely from the PDP,” Jibo added.

BAM-V also commended the PDP Governors’ Forum’s resolution to stand by Governor Fubara and support his leadership of the party in Rivers State.

They argued that Wike’s actions have no place in the party and that his conduct poses a danger to the PDP’s stability and the nation’s peace.

The statement further warned Wike against inciting any turmoil in Bauchi State, which they described as the most peaceful state in the North-East zone.

“The PDP is bigger than any individual, no matter how highly placed such a person may be. We strongly believe that the party’s founding fathers never intended for it to become a tool of manipulation,” the statement read.”

Governor Bala Mohammed’s supporters concluded by reaffirming their commitment to maintaining peace and development in Bauchi State.

“The likes of Wike are not wanted in Bauchi State. The state deserves its peace for its development to continue unabated,” they stated.

The group is calling on the PDP’s National Working Committee to either suspend or expel Wike to prevent further damage to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
