Troops Capture Notorious Gunrunner, Seize Weapons Cache in Kaduna

On August 4th, troops of the Nigerian Army arrested a notorious gunrunner, Mallam Hashimu Ahmad, who was en route to deliver high-calibre weapons to terrorists in Kaduna State.

The arrest occurred at Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area, following a coordinated operation with other security agencies.

Ahmad, who had been on the wanted list for his role in supplying arms and ammunition to terrorists, was apprehended while transporting a significant cache of sophisticated weapons.

Items recovered from his possession included a General Purpose Machine Gun, a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Launcher, an RPG Bomb, 1,069 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, a belt of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, and the vehicle used for the transportation.

In a related operation, troops in Delta State intercepted a tanker truck carrying 15,000 liters of a substance suspected to be illegally refined AGO (Automotive Gas Oil) at Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area.

Two suspects involved in the transportation of the illegal product were detained for preliminary investigations before being handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency.

Also, troops in Sokoto State, while patrolling the Matalawa village area in Isa Local Government Area, successfully rescued hostages who had been kidnapped and taken into the forest.

The troops responded promptly to a distress call and engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle, leading to the safe rescue of the victims.

The freed hostages have since been reunited with their families.
