Police Deploys 4,200 Officers to Secure Abuja Ahead of Protest

In preparation for the upcoming nationwide protest, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has deployed 4,200 officers across Abuja.

To ensure public safety, the command has also stationed explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) experts at key strategic locations.

SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the command, noted the police’s commitment to preventing violent protests and maintaining law and order.

“The CP vows to resist all form of violent protests and lawlessness, as the police will not be stampede into allowing the destruction of public and private properties or loss of lives,” she stated.

Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, acknowledged residents’ right to protest but urged that protests remain peaceful.

“Measures include visibility policing and the deployment of explosive ordnance disposal experts at various strategic locations,” Igweh said.

“Also, operatives will conduct raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties. They will also engage in stop-and-search operations, vehicular and foot patrols, and maintain synergy with sister security agencies.”
