A group of Lagos indigenes living in the United Kingdom and Ireland, known as the Lagos State Union UK, has cautioned against a repeat of the violence and destruction that characterised the 2020 EndSARS protest in Lagos.
In a statement signed by the Union’s President, Mr. Toyin Ibrahim Igbo, and Publicity Secretary, Engr. Kayode Ajayi, the group warned that any attempt to destroy state facilities and properties under the guise of protest will not be tolerated.
While acknowledging the right to protest, the Union urged protesters to focus on Abuja, the seat of power, rather than Lagos.
They also called on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and security agencies to protect the state’s lives and properties.
The group warned that any attempt to cause mayhem in Lagos will be met with resistance, stating that the destruction that occurred during the EndSARS protest is still fresh in their memories.
