The House of Representatives is in mourning following the untimely passing of Rep. Ekene Abubakar Adams (LP, Kaduna), a cherished member of the 10th Assembly. Rep. Adams, who represented the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, passed away early Tuesday at the age of 39.
In a statement, the
House Spokesman
and Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Akin Rotimi Jr. confirmed the death.
He described the deceased as “A dedicated public servant and esteemed sports administrator”
According to the statement, Rep. Adams chaired the House Committee on Sports, leaving an indelible mark on the development of grassroots sports in Nigeria.
It read, “Known for his kindness and philanthropy, he was admired by colleagues and constituents alike for his unwavering commitment to public service.
“The House of Representatives extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, constituents of our dear colleague, as well as the good people and Government of Kaduna State.
“Rep. Adams’s legacy as a passionate advocate for sports and a compassionate humanitarian will forever resonate within our chambers and beyond.
“Rep. Ekene Abubakar Adams’s sudden demise has left a void in the House of Representatives, where he served with distinction during his first term. As tributes pour in from across the nation, colleagues and constituents alike remember him not only for his legislative contributions but also for his personal integrity and unwavering dedication to his community. May his soul rest in peace.”
