Varsity lecturer’s abductors demand N30m ransom

 

The abductors of a lecturer with the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Prof. Allan Mamman Kadams, have demanded ransom from the family.

The victim’s younger brother, Mr. Henry Kadams, who disclosed this yesterday, did not specify the amount being demanded, but an unconfirmed source put it at N30 million.

A local online news medium quoted a ‘close ally’ of the professor as confiding in it that the abductors had asked for N30million to secure the don’s release.

Prof. Kadams was abducted from his home at the Federal Housing Estate in Bajabure, a few kilometres to the university, at 2am on Tuesday.

Before Kadams, who is of the Crop Production department, a professor in the Department of Soil Science in the same university, Prof. Ibrahim Adamu Zata, was kidnapped about two weeks earlier and released after his family paid unconfirmed N2 million as ransom.

Henry said the family was negotiating Prof. Kadams’ release, adding that they were optimistic that he would soon be released.

Recall that the Professor was on Tuesday kidnapped by unknown gun men at his resident at Federal Housing Estate, Bajabure at the outskirts of Yola arround 2am.
