Ahead of the forthcoming local government elections slated for July 13, Hon. Ovoke Friday Warri, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Isoko South Local Government Area, has urged party members who vied for political offices but couldn’t achieve their ambitions to remain in the PDP and not join other political parties.
Warri made this call during a chat with newsmen at his Okpolo-Ehwen country home in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
He noted the importance of consistency, stating, “Be consistent. Don’t go and join another party.”
Warri also appealed to the people of Isoko South to support the PDP and him, as their candidate, to ensure victory in the upcoming election and to become the chairman of the council.
He urged, “I am pleading with them because I alone cannot make it.”
Warri stressed the need for collective effort, saying, “I will emerge with their total support and their votes, and I am appealing to them that, come July 13, they should come out en masse to support the PDP candidate to win the election.”
Warri, whose campaign slogan is “Warri for Your Worries,” promised to run an “open door” policy and announced that he would officially unveil his political agenda for Isoko South in the next few days.
As the former Chairman of Finance & Appropriation for the council between 2014 and 2017, he expressed confidence in his leadership, asserting, “I have the fans.
“They’re all there. Even on Facebook and social media, I am the well-known and accepted candidate.”
Warri also advised the people to adhere to the rules and regulations guiding the local government in Isoko South, assuring them that the government would do its part.
He acknowledged that governance is a continuous process and urged patience, noting, “Anyone vying for an office will definitely make promises.”
Addressing the issue of subsidy removal and the financial implications for the state, Warri remarked, “Yes, they will say subsidy has been removed and there’s a lot of money coming to the state without looking at the wage bill.
So, my advice to the people of Isoko South is, as we are about to take up the mantle of leadership, they should be patient with the government, and by the grace of God, we will deliver the dividends of democracy to them.”
